Te Au Moana — "the ocean tide" — is a beachfront resort lū'au on the lawn at the Wailea Beach Marriott, with a Hawaiian feast and an evening of traditional song and dance.
A constant across generations of Hawaiians and Polynesians is the ocean tide. The tide that links all of Oceania, Te Au Moana, carries the ancestral storytelling of the people of Maui and the Pacific through lavish song and dance. The Polynesians held deep knowledge of the earth and its life-giving elements, and their skills — fishing, gathering, gift-giving, romance, and tapa (bark cloth) making — are brilliantly demonstrated here.
The evening includes pork roasted underground in a traditional imu, a three-course menu served family-style at your table, an open bar, and a fresh flower or kukui nut lei or carved wooden necklace on arrival (subject to availability).
This is an outdoor event on the oceanfront lawn — bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen for the early evening. In the event of inclement weather the lū'au may move indoors.
