This excursion climbs to Haleakalā's 10,000-foot summit for one of the most extraordinary sunrises on earth — no biking required.
Beyond sunrise itself, you get a full guided tour of Haleakalā National Park from NAI Certified Interpretive Guides, who share the mountain's geology and ecology alongside the stories, culture and history of Maui. Afterwards the tour drops down through the historic towns of Makawao and Pa'ia, where breakfast at Paia Bay Coffee Co. is included.
Travel is by 24-passenger mini-bus. The itinerary covers upcountry Maui (Makawao, Kula), the north shore (Pa'ia, Ho'okipa, Ha'ikū) and central Maui (Kahului, Wailuku). Haleakalā EcoTours is authorized by the National Park Service to operate here.
Hotel and cruise-ship pickup is optional; pickup days depend on where you're staying (West/Central Maui Monday and Thursday; South/Central Maui Tuesday and Friday), roughly 1.5 hours before check-in. Check-in times change with the season — dress in layers and bring a jacket.
